"Long hours, exhausted after walking an hour to childminder then work a full day then walk back to childcare then home again.
Child tired and hungry, cooking dinner and too tired to eat it. Child in bed and I never asked what happened at school. Turned out the childminder's own children were bullying my daughter and my daughter was desperately unhappy missing her mummy. Couldnt afford the bus fare to McDonalds for a treat after paying full rent, council tax , childcare and extra in the pre payment meter to heat the home. My mental health slid with the guilt and my daughter's mental health slid as she had no quality time with me.
There was no rewards for working endless hours. The choice is limited as a single parent."
