Another week towards Christmas and the fear and stress over Christmas presents is seeping in. This is a horrible way to live. Not only has the £20 uplift been abolished - there has been a 70% rise in gas prices and a dramatic rise in electric prices. My children still want Santa to come and I’m just not sure that’s possible this year. Every year I struggle but this is the worst it’s ever hit me. Our schools in NI are talking about closing early - will there be a donation to those families having to put on extra gas and electric who have the lowest income? NO I don’t think so. Will children like mine who have no technology be offered help towards remote learning NO I don’t think so because they weren’t last time this happened.

WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN IN ALL THESE DECISIONS?

WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN WHO ARE OUR COUNTRIES FUTURE IN THESE DECISIONS?

My children may be poverty stricken but they are no less of a human than those of wealthier children. My children have intellect and talent and why should they suffer as a result of me having to come out of teaching to deal with a court battle and why should they suffer because of the life they have been dealt.

This is all so tragic and so uncalled for - the lowest of the low on benefits like myself are the ones who are suffering the most. Stripped of their self worth because of a flawed system.

I can get supply work tomorrow but the system doesn’t allow me to do so.
