Q. With these new changes to Universal Credit coming in, what do you think about this focus on helping working families?
Well I am still personally affected by the removal of the £20 uplift. As a qualified teacher I am finding getting into work extremely hard as a single mother. In Northern Ireland the schools are crying out for supply teachers but the new system doesn’t allow you to do ad hoc work and I would no stability and no other income as I live alone to help during times when I receive no work. I am happy that for working people these new ideas work but it won’t do anything for me in my current situation. I am terrified for Christmas and this will be the worst one ever financially due to our 70% rise in gas and rise in electric.
