Q. If you're on benefits, have you felt pushed into work? If you're in paid employment, what’s it been like for you?
With a child under 3 years old, I’m not currently expected to look for work. What has been annoying though, is that despite this I have had to attend appointments both in person (pre-COVID) and via the phone, simply to confirm this. I last had a phone appointment about 4 months ago. My son turns 3 in July and there was definitely more questions about how I was going to start working again - almost like I was expected to jump to it on his birthday. It felt like they expected me to already have a plan and a route back to part-time work ready to go, rather than simply begin looking for work after he turns three.
