We took advantage of the Will Aid scheme this week. After putting it off for a long time, we thought we had better put things in place for if we die. Not because we have anything to pass on, but to state officially our wishes for the children’s guardianship should the worse happen. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the will aid scheme. I had to swallow my pride, and I did feel very out of place at the solicitors. There was no hiding discreetly that we were getting the service for free. And I was sad we had to go through being seen like that just to get a very important job done. I wish schemes to help people on low incomes/benefits didn’t also come with an element of shame/begging.
