I was back in work today after the latest round of government restrictions were announced. I work one day a week for a mental health charity, an admin job that I started in July. Initially when I started they said I should work from home. However, from Sept, they started a phased return to work plan so I am now in the office. I’m disappointed because my job is perfectly do-able from home. There were only 5 of us in the office today so it’s not packed, but I don’t understand why we have to be there when we can function well enough from home. I am privileged to have a car and be able to drive to and from work, not having to rely on public transport, so the only increased risk for me is literally being in the office with my colleagues. I’m not fussed for the social side of work as I don’t know my colleagues and would much prefer the choice (if there was one) of socialising with my family and friends.
