Just had a call from my surgeries asthma nurse, checking to see how I'm doing (as I've got asthma and am overweight). I explained that my asthma has gotten worse in lockdown and that I'm not sure how to access prescription services while on universal credit (I was told I'd need to apply for an exception card last time I ask, though that was precovid). I'd ran out of my medication for asthma months ago and have been struggling since, but too scared to go out or seek help about it. The nurse was very sympathic and very helpful, she's sending some prescriptions to local pharmacy to be made for when I am able to get to them and gave me the phone number for the pharmacy to ring them and ask about how to get medicines while on UC. I rang the pharmacy and was informed that it was the same as income support, just tick a box on the back, and not to worry. I can even send someone to collect prescriptions if needs be, as I'm still too scared to go out (I do not trust the news or the government about how safe it supposedly is, they've lied so much already, and clearly value profits over lives, I won't risk my life or my children's wellbeing over some products). I'll ask the local charity who brings me food parcels if they know someone who can help with prescriptions. If not I'll wait a few weeks an hope I don't have a major asthma attack on the meantime (unlikely as I do take preventative messure and I'm an old hat at dealing with this).
