Can you tell us about the impact it's had on your family?: "Because often policy-makers are completely out of touch with the realities of living in poverty. It is hard for people to see past their own privilege and truly understand another’s experience. Often solutions and ideas are based on figures and costs and statistics, without actually seeing the real people. What can be though of as a generous policy can be stigmatising, or impractical or simply unhelpful for the people it is trying to help. It is only by listening to peoples lived-experience that policy-makers can make policies that address and support with efficiency, practicality and dignity."
