Q. With these new changes to Universal Credit coming in, what do you think about this focus on helping working families?
It's great for working families - me included. A real incentive to carry on working. I'd love to get to the stage where we don't need universal credit anymore but unfortunately this just isn't realistic until my kids are older and more self sufficient...
It's also not fair to dangle a carrot of an increase for a few months and then take it away again. What I'd rather see is an increase in child benefit for all and/or more parenting support and/or more support for schools. Being a parent can be a really hard job, and with the goal of raising happy healthy children - a little extra support could go a long way to ensuring our future generations have had a well rounded upbringing.
